Terms of Use
Last updated:
This is an English translation for convenience. The German version is binding.
In short: Snackofatz is free. Be fair to others. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour: I remove such content, and anyone who breaks the rules can lose their account.
1. Provider
Snackofatz is offered by:
Marten Gülink
Töpferhof 1
49078 Osnabrück
Germany
Email: hi@snackofatz.app
More details are in the legal notice. These terms of use apply to the Snackofatz app and your account in it; by signing up, you agree to them. How I handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
2. Minimum age
Snackofatz is intended for people aged 16 and over. Anyone younger may not create an account. If I learn of an account belonging to a younger person, I delete it.
3. What is not allowed
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. This covers everything you post in Snackofatz or show to others: entries, photos, notes, comments, snacks and recipes, your username and your profile picture. In particular, the following are not allowed:
- illegal content;
- hate against people, for example because of their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability;
- insults, threats and harassment;
- sexual content;
- violent content;
- spam;
- impersonation: pretending to be someone else.
4. Reporting and blocking
If you come across something that breaks these rules, you can do this in the app:
- report: entries with their photos, comments, snacks and profiles;
- block: people whose comment or entry you can see, your friends, and people who have sent you a request.
I review every report myself. A blocked person can no longer send you requests, and you disappear from each other; you can undo a block under Profile → Settings → Privacy & data → Blocked users. The reported or blocked person is not notified. You can also send me notices of illegal content by email to hi@snackofatz.app. How reporting and blocking work in the app is explained on the support page.
5. Removing content and closing accounts
Without prior notice, I may remove content that breaks these terms. Likewise, without prior notice, I may close the account of anyone who breaks these terms; the account is then deleted with its data, just as when an account is deleted in the app (section 8). I remove illegal content promptly as soon as I learn of it. If I remove content of yours or close your account, I email you to tell you why – just reply if you disagree.
An account closed for breaking these terms can't sign up again with the same email address. What I store for this is described in the privacy policy.
6. Your content
What you post in Snackofatz – photos, ratings, notes, comments, recipes – stays yours. Only post what you made yourself or are allowed to use.
You allow Snackofatz, that is me, to store your content, to prepare it for display (for example by creating thumbnails) and to show it to the people the app shows it to – an entry, for example, to your friends, unless you set it to "private". This permission ends when you delete the content or your account. What remains stored after that, such as the details of a bought snack you added, is described in the privacy policy.
7. Cost and liability
Snackofatz is free, and I offer the app as it is. I do my best to keep it running reliably, but I can't promise that it is always available and free of errors, or that it will exist forever.
My liability for damages is as follows:
- unlimited for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz);
- for other damage I cause through slight negligence, only if I breach an essential contractual duty – that is, a duty without which you couldn't use Snackofatz at all and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely – and then limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for a contract of this kind.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time: in the app under Profile → Settings, at the very bottom with Delete my account, or by email to hi@snackofatz.app. This also ends the contract for using the app. What is deleted and what remains is described under Delete account.
9. Changes to these terms
I update these terms when the app or the law changes. You can always find the current version at snackofatz.app/terms; the date above shows when it was last updated. I also tell you about material changes by email or in the app. If you don't agree with a change, you can delete your account at any time (section 8).
10. Governing law
German law applies. If you are a consumer and your habitual residence is in another country, you also keep the protection of that country's mandatory provisions.
